THE BELIEFS OF LEGACY CHURCH:
1. Bible/Scriptures
We believe that the Bible/Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testament (sixty-six books), are the very words of God, and thus inerrant, infallible, and authoritative in all that it says (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12-13, Ps. 119).
2. Triune God
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; John 1:14, 14:10, 26, Acts 5:3-4)
3. The person and work of Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, in order to reveal God and redeem humanity (Matt. 1:18-25, Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; Col. 2:9; 1 John 4:10). We believe that Jesus redeemed humanity to God through His death on the cross for their sins (substitutionary atonement) and by the power of the resurrection from the dead (John 3:16, 14:6; 1 Cor. 15:1-8; 2 Cor. 5:18-21). We believe that Jesus ascended into Heaven and now sits at the right hand of God making intercession for the saints as the believer’s Great High Priest and Advocate (Acts 1:9; Heb. 4:15, 7:25, 9:24; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2).
4. The person and work of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the primary author of Scripture, as He inspired over forty different men to write the Holy Scriptures (John 14:26; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21). We believe that the Holy Spirit, the eternal Spirit of God, is the person of God who convicts the world concerning righteousness, is the supernatural agent of regeneration, and indwells believers from the very moment of salvation and seals their redemption (John 16:8-11; Titus 3:5; Eph. 1:14). We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells believers and gives them at least one spiritual gift, enables them with the fruit of the Spirit, and guides them in all truth (Romans 12; 1 Cor. 12; Gal. 5:22-23).
5. Mankind/Sin
We believe that God created mankind on the sixth day of creation. Mankind is separate from the rest of God’s creation in that mankind, and mankind alone, is created in the image of God. Man was and is to serve as God’s representative and to take care of His creation (Gen. 1:26-27, 28). We believe that mankind, in their free will, rebelled against God and ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (the tree which God commanded them not to eat from). At the moment Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, mankind was plunged into sin and now all humans since are born with a sin nature and are totally depraved. Being totally depraved, man is unable to save himself and his works are not honoring in God’s eyes apart from Him (Gen. 2:17, 3:1-6; Isa. 64:6; Rom. 3:21-23, 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3, 12).
6. Salvation
We believe that salvation was and is made possible only through the atoning work of Jesus on the cross. Jesus left the glory of heaven to be born of a Virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit, lived a perfect life, and then willingly was crucified for the sins of the world. He was buried and on the third day He rose again proclaiming victory over sin, death, and Satan himself. Through an individual placing their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they will be saved (Act. 4:12; 1 Cor. 15:1-8; Rom. 5:8; John 3:16-18; Matt. 1:18-25; Phil. 2:6-8; Eph. 2:1-10).
